A BETTER WAY

For the past 150 years presidential elections have taken the route of two major parties. Candidates have been selected by these two parties and the media and then put through a primary process until the hand picked candidates are nominated at their individual conventions. Lost in this process is the ability of the American people to voice their opinions and choices. The existing political system spoon feeds their choices and fundamentally blocks any other choice the people desire.

It is clear a change is needed. Not only a change in political theory but also in the nomination process. Technology can and must be used to incorporate the will of the people into our political races. We now have the means to hold campaigns and conventions online. By doing so we will merge the wants of the people with the needs of our nation.

Americans Elect is now forging a new path in the electoral process. Each voter or delegate will have a say in the candidates chosen, the issues to be debated and the planks of the platform to be put forth in the next presidential election. An internet convention will be held in June 2012 to select the Presidential and Vice Presidential candidates that will truly represent the people. But none of this is possible without your participation. You will be the political machine to drive this effort. You wil have the ultimate say in who will represent us. And you will choose the direction this nation will take to survive in the future. If you would like to be a part of the new theory and process in politics contact ricwells@verizon.net for further information.

MIDDLE CLASS BETRAYEL

THE SUPPOSED DEBT CEILING CRISIS IS OVER. I SAY SUPPOSED BECAUSE RAISING THE DEBT CEILING WAS A FOREGONE CONCLUSION IN JANUARY. THE PRESIDENT AND THE DEMOCRATS GOT WHAT THEY WANTED. NO DEBATE ON THE DEBT CEILING UNTIL AFTER THE 2012 ELECTIONS. NO SENSE DISCUSSING THE FINANCIAL INSTABILITY UNTIL AFTER A SECOND TERM IS ASSURED. THE REPUBLICANS AND THE TEA PARTY GOT WHAT THEY WANTED. COST CUTTING AND BUDGET RE-APPROPRIATIONS TO ALL PROGRAMS THAT DON'T AFFECT THE TOP 10% OF THE COUNTRY AND BIG BUSINESS. WOULDN'T WANT TO UPSET THOSE CAMPAIGN CONTRIBUTIONS NOW, WOULD WE. THE GLARING ABSENCE FROM THIS DEAL IS THE FACT THAT CUTTING TAX LOOPHOLES FOR THE RICH AND LARGE CORPORATIONS WERE NOT INCLUDED IN THE FINAL BILL PASSED BY CONGRESS.

SOME THOUGHTS COME TO MIND. WHAT PROGRAMS ARE GOING TO BE CUT WITHOUT ADDING TO THE ALREADY GROWING UNEMPLOYMENT RATE? WHERE IS THE GOVERNMENT GOING TO GET THE FUNDS TO REPAIR AN ALREADY CRUMBLING INFRASTRUCTURE? I GUESS IT'S MORE IMPORTANT TO GIVE SUBSIDIES TO OIL COMPANIES OR TAX BREAKS FOR CORPORATE JETS THAN TO REPAIR SOMETHING AS BORING AS AN INTERSTATE HIGHWAY BEFORE IT COLLAPSES. AND WE ALL KNOW HOW QUICKLY LARGE CORPORATIONS REINVEST IN NEW HIRES. SATISFYING MAJOR SHAREHOLDERS AND CORPORATE BONUSES SEEM TO BE THE ORDER OF THE DAY. BUT WAIT, WHO IS THE MAJOR BENEFACTOR OF A FUNCTIONAL INFRASTRUCTURE, MAJOR CORPORATIONS FOR COMMERCE. FUNDS RAISED BY CLOSING THEIR TAX LOOPHOLES WOULD PUT A MAJOR DENT IN BRINGING INTERSTATE TRANSPORTATION TO A SAFE LEVEL.

SO IN THE END THE PRESIDENT, HOUSE AND SENATE CAN STAND AND APPLAUD THEMSELVES BUT WAITING IN THE WINGS IS AN ELECTORATE THAT IS BOTH HURT AND BETRAYED. BENEDICT ARNOLD WAS HATED FOR BETRAYING HIS COUNTRY AND THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT IS ON THE SAME PATH OF DESTRUCTION. 2012 IS CLOSE AT HAND AND THE PEOPLE WILL NOT FORGET THIS BACK STABBING. COMMON SENSE AND LOGIC MUST PREVAIL TO BRING THIS NATION BACK TO FINANCIAL AND POLITICAL STABILITY, NOT BACK ROOM DEALINGS TO SATISFY THE MINORITY.

ON THIS OUR DAY OF INDEPENDENCE

The early morning fog was rolling in from the Delaware River to blanket the sleepy town of Philadelphia. 56 men arrived at Independence Hall to begin a process that would set into motion the most unlikely transformation in human history. War had started nearly a year hence but nothing was sent to the King to declare the intentions of the uprisings. These 56 men were about to commit a most agregious act that could be punishable by death, that of treason. Knowing this , these thinkers, farmers, politicians, tradesmen, businessmen and leaders put the final stamp upon one of the most sacred documents this nation has ever produced. This guiding light, this shining beacon of hope, this statement of everlasting freedom, this simple piece of paper with 56 signatures would start a process that would culminate in a war for absolute survival. This declaration would result in freedom. Freedom from persecution. Freedom from oppression. Freedom from the shackles of tyranny. The ultimate result would be independence.

Thousands would give their blood, lives and money to back up this declaration, this Declaration of Independence. Countless thousands have done the same since that day. This declaration has led to our Constitution, our government, our way of life and our nation. It must be affirmed: We are the government. We are the military. We are the economy. We are the businesses and financial institutions. We are the driving force of this nation and not some faceless institution. We are the US in USA Our love for this country will never diminish. Our determination will never fade. Our tenacity will never die. And we will never quit. We will remember this as we celebrate the most important birthday in our lives. The birth of OUR nation. Happy birthday USA. Leave your fate in our hands and we will stay the course.

LETTER TO GOVERNOR ANDREW CUOMO/UNFUNDED MANDATE RELIEF

Our nations birthday has passed with all its fanfare and it is now mid-July. School Tax bills will soon be arriving at property owners residences only to be opened with much chagrin and disgust. The current State administration is well under way with much progress. We have witnessed an on time budget, a 2% property tax cap and an ethics reform bill but so far we have seen no progress in the most critical issue of all, unfunded mandate relief. It is imperative that news of any progress, except the formation of another committee, be put forth to all the media to keep the taxpayers informed. It is important that any progress or set back be responsibly reported to keep the administration transparent and the electorate current in order to make informed decisions in the 2012 elections. Abnormally high School Taxes are the number one factor for New York's economic crisis. We are driving businesses and homeowners to other states due to high taxes and unreasonable regulations. The effect of these actions will erode further the already dwindling tax base in our state. We must start immediate public negotiations with all parties concerned in order to give all New York taxpayers hope for the future.

RESPONSE FROM U.S. SENATOR RAND PAUL ON SURVEY#8

June 17, 2011

Dear Mr. Wells,

Thank you for taking the time to contact me regarding the need to cut spending in Washington, D.C. I appreciate hearing your thoughts concerning this matter.
The size of the national debt has grown considerably over the past few years, and we have seen currencies and countries fall under their unsustainable debt. Unless we consider making cuts to every major piece of legislation, we will not come close to balancing the budget. Therefore, I voted against the most recent short-term continuing resolution for the same reason I voted against the last one and the one before that - because it does not set us on a path to fixing the spending and debt problems our country is facing. As I have said before, there is not much of a difference between a $1.5 trillion deficit and a $1.6 trillion deficit - both will lead us to a debt crisis from which we may not recover.
I have introduced a number of proposals to address this crisis immediately, as Congress cannot continue to delay action on the very real problems facing our nation. On the first day I could introduce a bill in the 112th Congress, I proposed S. 162, which would cut $500 billion from the federal budget within one year. Next, I introduced Senate Joint Resolution 5, along with Senator Mike Lee (R-Utah), which calls for a balanced budget amendment to the Constitution, with specific spending limitations and protections against tax increases. Then, on Mar. 17, 2011, I unveiled a five-year balanced budget plan that would bring spending near the historical average in its first year, repeal Obamacare, and reduce spending by nearly $4 trillion relative to the President's budget.
Again, thank you for contacting me regarding our nation's fiscal crisis. Rest assured that as I serve in the United State Senate, I will continue to introduce and support legislation that will return our nation to sound financial footing.

Sincerely,
Signature

Mr. Richard M. Wells

Dear Mr. Wells,

Thank you for contacting me regarding taxes, it is good to hear from you.

We have a spending problem in this country, not a revenue problem. One of the reasons I retired from the military and came to Washington was to fight the growing mentality that taxpayers' pockets can be treated as bottomless coffers. I believe all Americans have an obligation to contribute funds to cover the federal government's expenses, which is why I voted for a budget proposal that would close tax loopholes and ensure individuals and corporations alike are paying their fair share. However, I reject the excessive federal spending that has become the norm in Washington and the idea that taxpayers should be expected to fund a bloated government. Especially at a time when the economy is lagging, the federal government should not be placing further burdens on Americans by imposing high federal taxes.

An example of an increase, or at least perceived increase, in taxes was the recent expiration of The Making Work Pay (MWP). This tax credit was implemented as part of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 and provided a refundable tax credit (through lower income tax withholding) of up to $400 for individuals and up to $800 for married taxpayers filing joint returns in 2009 and 2010. Although the MWP tax credit expired on December 31, 2010, the Tax Relief, Unemployment Insurance Reauthorization, and Job Creation Act of 2010, signed by President Obama on December 17, 2010, included an extension of some tax provisions that were scheduled to expire. This legislation also included a one-year "payroll tax holiday" which reduced the employee portion of the Social Security payroll tax from 6.2% to 4.2% of covered wages up to $106,800 in 2011. Some people may find that the reduction in Social Security payroll taxes in 2011 is less than the amount they received under the MWP tax credit in 2010. While I was not a Member of Congress when this legislation was passed in 2010, my belief is that the tax code should be simplified and tax rates should be cut across the board.

We cannot tax our way to prosperity. Americans already face some of the highest tax rates in the world, which make our businesses less competitive and sends jobs that could be used here overseas. The best way to spur economic growth is for Congress to allow families and small businesses to keep more of their hard-earned money. Allowing taxpayers to keep more of what they earn encourages spending, saving, and investing, all of which are good for the economy and can begin immediately. It is the role of the private sector to create jobs and the federal government must provide a suitable economic environment conducive to this growth.

In the wake of this recession New York families and businesses cannot afford more taxes, and as the Representative of the people of New York's 20th Congressional District I will continue to fight for lower federal taxes.

Thank you, again, for contacting me with your thoughts. Please don't hesitate to inform me of your concerns in the future through my websitehttp://gibson.house.gov or over the phone at (202) 225-5614.
Sincerely,
(signed)

PUT ME IN CHARGE- FROM MEMBER LISA CAMPBELL

Put me in charge of food stamps. I'd get rid of Lone Star cards; no cash for Ding Dongs or Ho Ho's, just money for 50-pound bags of rice and beans, blocks of cheese and all the powdered milk you can haul away.  If you want steak and frozen pizza, then get a  job.

Put me in charge of Medicaid. The first thing I'd do is to get women Norplant birth control implants or tubal ligations.  Then, we'll test recipients for drugs, alcohol, and nicotine and document all tattoos and piercings.  If you want to reproduce or use drugs, alcohol, smoke or get tats and piercings, then get a job.

Put me in charge of government housing.  Ever live in a military barracks?  You will maintain our property in a clean and good state of repair.  Your "home" will be subject to inspections anytime and possessions will be inventoried.  If you want a plasma TV or Xbox 360, then get a job and your own place.

In addition, you will either present a check stub from a job each week or you will report to a "government" job.  It may be cleaning the roadways of trash, painting and repairing public housing, whatever we find for you.  We will sell your 22 inch rims and low profile tires and your blasting stereo and speakers and put that money toward the “common good.”

Before you write that I've violated someone's rights, realize that all of the above is voluntary.  If you want our money, accept our rules.  Before you say that this would be "demeaning" and ruin their "self esteem," consider that it wasn't that long ago that taking someone else's money for doing absolutely nothing was demeaning and lowered self esteem.

If we are expected to pay for other people's mistakes we should at least attempt to make them learn from their bad choices.  The current system rewards them for continuing to make bad choices.

AND While you are on Gov’t subsistence, you no longer can VOTE!  Yes that is correct.  For you to vote would be a conflict of interest.  You will voluntarily remove yourself from voting while you are receiving a Gov’t welfare check.  If you want to vote, then get a job.
