ON THIS OUR DAY OF INDEPENDENCE

The early morning fog was rolling in from the Delaware River to blanket the sleepy town of Philadelphia. 56 men arrived at Independence Hall to begin a process that would set into motion the most unlikely transformation in human history. War had started nearly a year hence but nothing was sent to the King to declare the intentions of the uprisings. These 56 men were about to commit a most agregious act that could be punishable by death, that of treason. Knowing this , these thinkers, farmers, politicians, tradesmen, businessmen and leaders put the final stamp upon one of the most sacred documents this nation has ever produced. This guiding light, this shining beacon of hope, this statement of everlasting freedom, this simple piece of paper with 56 signatures would start a process that would culminate in a war for absolute survival. This declaration would result in freedom. Freedom from persecution. Freedom from oppression. Freedom from the shackles of tyranny. The ultimate result would be independence.

Thousands would give their blood, lives and money to back up this declaration, this Declaration of Independence. Countless thousands have done the same since that day. This declaration has led to our Constitution, our government, our way of life and our nation. It must be affirmed: We are the government. We are the military. We are the economy. We are the businesses and financial institutions. We are the driving force of this nation and not some faceless institution. We are the US in USA Our love for this country will never diminish. Our determination will never fade. Our tenacity will never die. And we will never quit. We will remember this as we celebrate the most important birthday in our lives. The birth of OUR nation. Happy birthday USA. Leave your fate in our hands and we will stay the course.

LETTER TO GOVERNOR ANDREW CUOMO/UNFUNDED MANDATE RELIEF

Our nations birthday has passed with all its fanfare and it is now mid-July. School Tax bills will soon be arriving at property owners residences only to be opened with much chagrin and disgust. The current State administration is well under way with much progress. We have witnessed an on time budget, a 2% property tax cap and an ethics reform bill but so far we have seen no progress in the most critical issue of all, unfunded mandate relief. It is imperative that news of any progress, except the formation of another committee, be put forth to all the media to keep the taxpayers informed. It is important that any progress or set back be responsibly reported to keep the administration transparent and the electorate current in order to make informed decisions in the 2012 elections. Abnormally high School Taxes are the number one factor for New York's economic crisis. We are driving businesses and homeowners to other states due to high taxes and unreasonable regulations. The effect of these actions will erode further the already dwindling tax base in our state. We must start immediate public negotiations with all parties concerned in order to give all New York taxpayers hope for the future.

TO THE NEW YORK STATE LEGISLATURE

TO THE NEW YORK STATE LEGISLATURE
BY
RIC WELLS
COMMON MAN
6/27/2011

TO ALL MEMBERS OF THE NEW YORK STATE LEGISLATURE. YOU ARE TO BE COMMENDED ON YOUR ACTIONS ON FRIDAY JUNE 24, 2011. ALL TOO OFTEN WE, THE VOTING ELECTORATE, HAVE BEEN LEFT WANTING FOR SOME KIND OF LEADERSHIP AND ACTION ON CONTROVERSIAL LEGISLATION FACING OUR STATE. THIS TIME YOU, AS OUR REPRESENTATIVE BOBY, LISTENED TO YOUR CONSTITUENTS AND DID THE PROPER THING BY BRINGING THE MARRIAGE EQUALITY BILL TO A FLOOR VOTE. REGARDLESS AS TO THE PASSAGE OR FAILURE OF THE BILL THE PROPER COURSE OF ACTION WAS TO BRING THE BILL TO A VOTE. IN THIS CIRCUMSTANCE YOUR COURAGE MUST BE ADMIRED UPON PASSAGE OF THE BILL. THE CORRECT ACTION WAS DONE AND A MAJOR HURDLE TOWARDS EQUAL RIGHTS FOR ALL NEW YORKERS WAS ACCOMPLISHED. IT IS HEARTENING TO SEE WHAT THIS STATE CAN AND WILL DO WHEN OUR EXECUTIVE AND LEGISLATIVE BRANCHES WORK IN CONJUNCTION WITH EACH OTHER FOR THE BETTERMENT OF THE STATE. KUDOS TO ALL OF YOU.
